Where to stay in Stockholm: Hotel Hornsgatan

Posted on 11. Dec, 2012 by in Destinations, Europe Travel, Reviews, Sweden

During my recent trip in Scandinavia, I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Stockholm, the Swedish capital and the all-around coolest place in the world (both figuratively and literally). I also wanted to stay in quality, clean accommodation, but that would also fit my restricted budget. And that’s exactly what I found at Hotel Hornsgatan.

Hotel Hornsgatan: The Location

The hotel is conveniently located in Stockholm’s hippest neighborhood, Sodermalm. A few minutes walk from the Mariatorget T-Bana station, or a bus ride into the other islands, the hotel is close to anything and everything you would want, and thus, within walking distance.

I really loved the fact that there are many stores nearby, and that it was very close to the lively Gotgatan, where I could dine, wine, go to the cinema or get work done at one of the many cafés. So location-wise, this hotel is a winner!

Hotel Hornsgatan: The Hotel

The hotel is located on the first floor of a residential-looking building, which only makes it more homey. The owner, Clara, is a very sweet lady who will go out of her way to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

The hotel is fully equipped with free wifi,  a breakfast room (where complimentary coffee and tea are served all day) and funky art on the corridor walls, and offer many different rooms to suit every need and budget.

Hotel Hornsgatan: The Rooms

I was assigned a private single ensuite room at the back of the hotel - which meant very quiet! The room was a bit on the small side, but I never thought that was a problem as 1, it was smartly designed and 2, who spends more than 8 hours in their hotel room anyway? I wasn’t in Stockholm to look at the ceiling, trust me!

The room featured a comfortable single bed, storing space, cable television, free wifi and a decent-sized ensuite bathroom. Even though it felt a bit dated, it was absolutely spotless and functional. I also loved the complimentary Dove soap - a nice touch!

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hotel Hornsgatan to anyone looking for quality accommodation in Stockholm at a fraction of the price, and in a bustling neighborhood. There are many options available to suit your every need - you will not regret your decision!

Disclaimer: I was a guest of the Hotel Hornsgatan. As always, all opinions are my own.
