Moving to France: It’s Happening Right Now!

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you probably know that a couple of months ago, I decided to follow my fiancé and move to France in the spring. Well, spring has sprung in Montreal… and I’m leaving tomorrow night!

I’ve sublet my apartment, stored my boxes (thanks to my mother-in-law, my dad, my mom and pretty much everyone I know with a storing space), gave my kitty to a friend - and I’m pretty much all set. All I need is to find a magical way to zip my suitcase. Not sure who’s going to win.

So how were the last weeks spent? Trying to make the most out of each moment with friends and family, attending my surprise bachelorette party, and drinking heavily at all these events, but also managing the whole moving-to-another-continent kind of project on my own. That was probably the hardest part. As much as an organized and motivated person as I am, taking all these responsibilities on myself was nerve wracking and exhausting - it was so intense that I often forgot the very reason why I was doing all this because I was submerged by my to-do list. I had several breakdowns, moments of doubt, I even despised the project at some point. It’s a crazy mixture of emotion, moving abroad.

But as I get a better grip on the big picture of tomorrow’s event, I have to say - I’m a little bit excited. Incredibly scared, but excited. I still have many things to finish and I’m not sure I’ll be able to truly relax once I’m sitting uncomfortably in the plane.

Here’s to my move and I can’t wait to write my very first European blog post!
