Holiday Gifts The Travel Addict In Your Life Will Actually Love

travel holiday gifts

Because I am one extremely picky person (I’m aware this makes me a horrible human being), I have been doing gift wishlists for as long as I can remember. I always thought - if you’re going to get me a present, you might as well spend your hard-earned money smartly by offering me something I actually want and need. Some think it takes the Christmas magic away, I think it’s a win-win situation. I would much rather kill the holiday spirit than hurt my loved ones’ feelings by having to return their gift.

I’ve put together a travel holiday gifts list (which includes both considerable presents and stocking stuffers) for the travel addict in your life - we all have one, right? Whether it’s your brother, your mom, your best friend or, heck, even yourself, this list is a sure thing. It’s a guaranteed homerun! Because it was created BY a seasoned traveler for other travelers. Get your wanderlust-stricken loved ones presents they will actually use at home or on the road, and thank me later :-)

1.   Inspirational art

If your beloved travel addict doesn’t get to travel as much as he or she would, get them a cool piece of travel-related art for their home to get their motivation levels through the roof. Etsy has a really nice collection of aesthetically pleasant, design-driven travel posters - this is where I get all of mine. Check out my hand-picked gallery!

2.   Aroamas perfume sticks

Bringing perfume on a trip really sucks: you either have to find a really tiny bottle (or, alternatively, get a travel-size bottle to take a small amount of perfume with you), or, worst yet, your entire suitcase ends up smelling like your beloved scent that is only really enjoyable in small doses. That’s where Aroamas come in; they are solid, meaning that they don’t leak (or take up precious space in the travel liquid bag) and they smell amazing - plus, they’re entirely made from all-natural ingredients!

3.   Noise-canceling headphones

I’ve included these in every single packing post I’ve ever written and for good reason: who wants to spend a long flight next to a snorer or a wailing baby? Good quality noise-canceling headphones are a life-saver when it comes to plane or even train travel. I never, ever leave home without mine - they can be costly but it is one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

4.   Travel-themed iPhone case

There is a plethora of travel-themed phone cases out there and it can be easy to get lost in the variety of options. I’ve handpicked a few to make your life easier: “Adventure Awaits“, London, ParisEdinburgh and a bunch of world-map phone cases here, here, here and here.

5.   World map watch

If your beloved travel addict is either an eternal late-runner or a map aficionado, this world map leather watch will undoubtedly be a hit.

6.   Cashmere scarf

Now, this is also a you-better-love-me-as-much-as-I-love-you type of gift because obviously, cashmere comes with a hefty price tag. But if you want to spoil your sophisticated and beloved travel addict, this luxurious 100% cashmere scarf (hell, at this size, it could be used as a blanket or even a wrap!) will be something she will remember forever. Whether you are exploring the freezing streets of Stockholm or going for high tea in Mayfair, a cashmere scarf is always a good companion.

7.   Custom map bracelet

The Brass&Chain Etsy shop has a bunch of entirely custom-made,  nickel-free/lead-free brass jewelry items made out of world map - bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings, cuff links, take your pick! Choose what piece of jewelry you need, pick the map you want to showcase and voilà!

8.   Waterproof iPhone case

Because what good would be underwater explorations without the photos to share the tale? This Lifeproof phone case is perfect for snorkeling on the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean sea or the mysterious Silfra fissure in Iceland, for example. The case features a built-in scratch protector and complete access to Touch ID, it is fully submersible to 6.6′ (2m) and is totally sealed from water, dirt, dust and snow.

9.   Inspirational travel literature

Novels are about imagination. Alternate universes. They’re about being transported to a different world in the matter of a few pages - I can see why travel and books go so well together. Some of the world’s most popular travel literature include Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises and Kerouac’s On The Road, for example. And for those who prefer visual inspiration, I always recommend the EveryMan Mapguides (which are super light and informative guides with fold-out neighborhood maps) and the classic Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World’s Greatest Trips by National Geographic.

10.   Selfie stick

I’m not saying we all should aim to be the next Kim Kardashian but a little selfie every once in a while never hurt nobody. The PicStick is perfect for taking selfies in places where your own arm just wouldn’t be long enough for the camera to get all of the striking scenery. Tested and approved by this blog!

11.   Stylish carry-on bag

Herschel is a hipster-approved, 100% polyester sturdy bag brand that is sure to be a hit with the fashion-conscious travel addict in your life. They also have an equally stylish backpack option if that is more your thing!

12.   Scratch-a-Map

One of the contemporary travel classics! This inexpensive yet highly appreciated travel scratch map lets the world traveler highlight his voyages in a beautiful, colorful way.
