Monday’s Postcard: Rome, Italy

Posted on 25. May, 2011 by in Destinations, Europe Travel, Italy, Photo Posts

This week brings us to ancient times, year 72 to be exact. Rome’s Colosseum was the main entertainment center of the city and could hold around 50,000 spectators. Not as glorious as it once was, it  is however one of the biggest icons of the world and is truly worth a visit, either to enjoy the beautiful views of the city or to understand the both simple and complex evacuation and aqueduct system. Also, as of summer 2010, the underground tunnels once used to transport animals and gladiators to the arena are opened to the public.
