Dover, England - In Photos

Dover was one of the most important items on my bucket list.

For some reason, I was always really, really drawn to it. Something about those majestic white cliffs intrigued me. And while I didn’t get the chance to see them when I lived in the UK, I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse a few weeks ago.

Glimpse really is the appropriate word.

I was on a guided tour through Kent so I didn’t pick this stop myself. I was a bit disappointed when I realized this was the only chance I’d get to see the famous cliffs - I thought we were going to get much closer, to get a proper look at them. They deserve it!

And just when I thought we’d at least drive by them - a photo from the bus is better than none at all, right? - the bus took a left and we drove up, and up, and up, and ended up being right above the cliffs. Not exactly what I’d hoped for. The scenery was very pretty, but just not what I wanted to see.

I guess I’ll just have to go back! Perhaps I’ll even get a ferry from France next time…

Disclaimer: I was on guest on the Leeds Castle - Dover - Canterbury tour of Grayline. All opinions, as always, are my own.

Have you been to Dover, or have you ever seen the white cliffs? What is the best spot to enjoy them at their fullest?

I hope you enjoyed Kent. As my home county I am very proud of it. We enjoy such diverse landscapes. My fiance and I are actually getting married in Dover at the Dover Marina Hotel, pretty close to where you must have taken your first photo. It’s a lovely spot and hopefully we’ll get those famous White Cliffs in our wedding shots.

I really did! It was beautiful, although I did wish I could’ve gotten closer to the cliffs. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding :)
