Monday’s Postcard: London, United Kingdom

Posted on 20. Jun, 2011 by in Travel

This week’s postcard brings us to my favourite place in the world, London. There’s just something about this city that makes it completely irresistible - cynics don’t stand a chance. Maybe it’s the vibrant culture mix, the mixed architecture, the effervescent nightlife. I don’t know exactly, but London, you got me.

Tower Bridge is one of the city’s most well known icons, and has been featured in many pictures, from Sherlock Holmes to Spice World to Fergie’s videoclip (but then again, one would not expect to find the actual London Bridge in the video).

It’s an authentic bascule bridge and river traffic still take the priority over road traffic, despite the 40,000 people who cross it everyday. While it looks extremely pretty today, did you know that before the Queen’s silver jubilee in 1977, the bridge was actually painted brown?
